What’s next?

For a little context, MainFM famously punches above its weight. That’s to say, it does a lot with a little. With the bulk of the station’s day to day being driven by volunteer efforts, and only a few part time staff with very limited time and capacity, certain things sometimes take time. Teeing up training dates can occasionally be one of those things.

Who does what?

Here are the people who’ll most likely be in touch soon to help you on your way.

Setting yourself up.

Preparation is key. Here are some resources to help make you more familiar with MainFM and the studio equipment before you arrive. Don’t skip them – they’re a great support for everyone, promise.

  • Studio & Presenter Guide

This document is a very comprehensive guide to both PRESENTING and TECHNICAL SKILLS. It’s available in hard copy in our 3 studios, but some trainees like to print out their own copy to write on and have as a reference as they go about their training.

Have a look to see what’s inside. Even total novices will glean helpful info from it.

  • Online Modules

We also have 3 short training modules. They take people around 20 minutes each to do. All new trainees need to finish these before arriving for face-to-face training.

Try doing The Great Grid Quiz and Understanding MainFM as soon as you’re able.

It’s best to save Studio Familiarisation for a day or two before you do your face-to-face studio training at the station.
